Serra Catholic is a perfect 6-0 against Greensburg Central Catholic since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Centurions at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Greensburg Central Catholic will be up against a hot Serra Catholic team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Eagles never let Ellis get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Tuesday. That looming 16-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.
Giana Foster was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Johanna Domek was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ryleigh Carper, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Serra Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ellis only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greensburg Central Catholic). They put the hurt on Ellis with a sharp 16-1 victory on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Centurions sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Like Serra Catholic, Greensburg Central Catholic also got a great game from a two-way player: Julianna Saxion. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Saxion has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those hits were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Greensburg Central Catholic got a massive performance out of Madelyn Bova, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those RBI marked the first that Bova has brought in this season. Abigail Dei was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
The win got Greensburg Central Catholic back to even at 4-4. As for Serra Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
Serra Catholic took their win against Greensburg Central Catholic in their previous matchup on April 14th by a conclusive 6-0 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Centurions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
