Baseball Recap: St. Anselm's Abbey Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

St. Anselm's Abbey strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over McLean. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Fen Mandel made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Mandel was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, Connor Paletta was a standout: he scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Neil Hogan, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2.

St. Anselm's Abbey's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for McLean, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, St. Anselm's Abbey will square off against Burke at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for McLean, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Saint James at 4:30 p.m. on the 15th.
