The Ezekiel Academy Knights were the 41-38 winner over the East Central HomeSchool Patriots when they last played one another on January 9th, but their luck changed this time around. Ezekiel Academy lost to East Central HomeSchool on the road by a decisive 44-25 margin on Thursday. Ezekiel Academy has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Ezekiel Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Addi Newell, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That was a full 36% of Ezekiel Academy's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Abbie Dunlap was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Leading East Central HomeSchool to victory were Emma Nelson and Hannah Bankston. Nelson scored 14 points along with six steals, while Bankston dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Nelson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Emily Rea, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Ezekiel Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for East Central HomeSchool, their victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ezekiel Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Evangel Christian at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st. East Central HomeSchool won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Southern Christian at 4:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Southern Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Monday.
