Edwardsville is 8-2 against O'Fallon since September of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Edwardsville has given up an average of 42.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Edwardsville came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were beaten by East St. Louis 54-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask O'Fallon). They enjoyed a cozy 46-30 win over Belleville West on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Maroons: they've now won five in a row.
O'Fallon's win came from a few key players Edwardsville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Gunner Hoffman, who rushed for 34 yards and a pair of scores. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (116.7). Aydan Stuckey got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Special teams played a big role in the game for O'Fallon, adding 14 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Stuckey, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to O'Fallon's defense and their three sacks. Triston Manrique was especially locked on to Belleville West's QB and sacked him twice.
The win got O'Fallon back to even at 3-3. As for Edwardsville, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-4.
Everything came up roses for Edwardsville against O'Fallon in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 46-10 victory. In that game, the Tigers amassed a halftime lead of 33-3, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
