Maddyson Sturgeon was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Brynn Ingle was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Madison Pitman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Clarksville was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They came up short against Lanesville, falling 10-2. The loss continues a trend for the Generals in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.
Clarksville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaliyah Watts, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one stolen base. Another was Bailey Senior, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Crawford County's record is now 4-13. As for Clarksville, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Crawford County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Clarksville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Crawford County couldn't quite finish off Clarksville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can the Wolfpack avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
