Baseball Recap: Northwest Rankin's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was a good run, but Northwest Rankin unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 6-2 to the Brandon Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 10-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Northwest Rankin got a good showing from Noah Williams, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Williams has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Northwest Rankin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nelson Barthel, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Northwest Rankin now has a losing record of 12-13-1. As for Brandon, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season.

While Northwest Rankin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
