Basketball Recap: Tuscola Skates Past Brevard with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tuscola). They blew past the Brevard Blue Devils 74-41 on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mountaineers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tuscola to victory, but perhaps none more so than Julia Wells, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine assists. Those 14 points gave Wells a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nora Jenkins, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 15 points.

Tuscola smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Tuscola's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5. As for Brevard, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Tuscola and Owen will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Tuscola is facing Owen at the right time seeing as Owen is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Brevard, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-25 defeat against T.C. Roberson on the 19th.
