The Swansboro Pirates were the 50-25 winner over the Richlands Wildcats when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Swansboro took a 44-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Richlands on Friday. Swansboro has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kendall Hackworth and Addison King certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hackworth scored ten points along with seven steals and five rebounds, while King scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two steals. King has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Grace Jass, who scored two points along with six steals.
Swansboro's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Richlands, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Swansboro's road trip will continue as they head out to face East Duplin at 4:30 p.m. on January 15th. East Duplin will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Richlands will take on Dixon at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Dixon is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
