Grace Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Queen's Grant Stallions at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Grace Academy struggled with assists on Tuesday (Liberty Preparatory Christian had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Grace Academy ended up on the wrong side of a tough 50-25 walloping at the hands of Liberty Preparatory Christian. While losing is never fun, Grace Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 445th, while Liberty Preparatory Christian is ranked 207th).
The match pitted two dominant players against one another in Kalista Pressley and Leia Garrett. Garrett had a great game and scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Meanwhile, Pressley did her best for the losing side, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Queen's Grant played against Sun Valley and lost via forfeit.
Grace Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-3. As for Queen's Grant, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's game: Grace Academy have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4 threes per game. It's a different story for Queen's Grant, though, as they've been averaging only 0.3 threes per game. Given Grace Academy's sizeable advantage in that area, Queen's Grant will need to find a way to close that gap.
Grace Academy came up short against Queen's Grant in their previous matchup back in December of 2017, falling 31-27. Thankfully for Grace Academy, Ashleigh Aberly (who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
