The South Sevier Rams will square off against the Milford Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Sevier is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.
South Sevier fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Kanab on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cowboys by a score of 7-6. The loss continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Cowboys: they've now lost three in a row.
Peyton Ingram made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Bigs Northrup, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Milford entered their tilt with Parowan on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Toby LaOrange was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. LaOrange was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Milford's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-7 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Milford got a massive performance out of Kilo Tsosie, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI Tsosie has posted since back in March. Griffin Walker was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Milford's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for South Sevier, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-5.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. South Sevier has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Milford struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South Sevier was able to grind out a solid win over Milford in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 9-6. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
