They claimed a resounding 35-0 win over the Gators at home. Given Breaux Bridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Beau Chene is ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Cristian Matthews, who rushed for 224 yards while picking up 8.3 yards per carry.
The win makes it two in a row for Breaux Bridge and bumps their season record up to 4-4. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-7 Beau Chene (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 34% over those games). As for Beau Chene, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Breaux Bridge will take on Opelousas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Beau Chene, they will head out on the road to face off against Hanson Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
