Even though the Landon Bears scored an imposing 62 points on Wednesday, the St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints still came out on top. St. Stephen's & St. Agnes strolled past Landon with points to spare, taking the game 79-62. That result was just more of the same for these two, as St. Stephen's & St. Agnes also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
St. Stephen's & St. Agnes' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Blake Neal led the charge by scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Pollock, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Landon's loss came despite strong showings from Francis Mannino and Ubie Zaid. Mannino dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Zaid scored 15 points along with five assists and two steals. That's the first time this season that Zaid scored 15 or more points. Aristeides John Hobson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
St. Stephen's & St. Agnes now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Landon, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Stephen's & St. Agnes will take on St. Albans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in St. Albans' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine games. As for Landon, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Episcopal at 6:15 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Malcolm Stute and Mannino.
