After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Marked Tree, the Cross County Thunderbirds were happy to have found some success on Monday. They came out on top against East Poinsett County by a score of 66-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why East Poinsett County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kyla Harston. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 28 points and 15 rebounds. Harston scored a full 49.1% of East Poinsett County's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kelly Ashcraft was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 8 rebounds.
Cross County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for East Poinsett County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Cross County will head out on the road to face off against Earle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Poinsett County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rector at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rector comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
