West Valley recap Oct. 16, 2012
Birmingham moved up to 226 from 281 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in West Valley. The Patriots were able to make the jump by beating Granada Hills 29-0.
El Camino Real took down Chatsworth 47-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Greg Morton ran for 172 yards in the win.
The Highlanders' dynamic duo of James Lucchesi and Bryson Bowman proved tough for Birmingham to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lucchesi threw for 116 yards and Bowman had 37 yards receiving. Sebastian Camacho helped Granada Hills' passing attack out by catching four balls for 31 yards.
Cleveland's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cavaliers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Vincent Urquidi has thrown for 586 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Japheth Pleasant has 23 catches for 352 yards. Joshua Anderson leads the league in rushing with 698 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Taft takes on Granada Hills. The Toreadors are currently in third, while Billy Parra's team is in second.
The Conquistadors led West Valley in scoring this week after putting up 47 points on the Chancellors. Morton in the win.
