Softball Recap: Devine Now 14-2 over Last 16 Games

Devine hadn't done well against Jourdanton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Warhorses walked away with an 8-3 win over the Indians/Squaws. The game was the first time the Warhorses have beaten the Indians/Squaws on their field since February 26, 2021.

Natalie Valle and Yaya Rodriguez did most of the damage at the plate: Valle got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Rodriguez got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kenny Cruz, who earned two runs and one stolen base.

Devine has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Jourdanton, with the defeat, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-13.

Devine wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-0 win against Gonzales on the 24th. As for Jourdanton, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Natalia on the 24th.
