Basic faced Green Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Wolves blew past the Gators 14-3. Considering the Wolves have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Johnny Villarreal looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tate Southisene was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Dallon Cegavske, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

Basic pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Green Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-14.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Basic beat the Gators by a score of 5-0 on Wednesday.
