Cesar E. Chavez is 0-10 against the Cardinals since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cesar E. Chavez Lobos will head out on the road to face off against the Bellaire Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. Cesar E. Chavez comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 87-13, which was the final score in Cesar E. Chavez's tilt against the Texans on Tuesday. Cesar E. Chavez was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-2.
Meanwhile, Bellaire put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They breezed by Houston Math Science & Tech on the road to the tune of 75-18. Given Bellaire's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 528th, while the Tigers are ranked 1170th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bellaire to victory, but perhaps none more so than Indiana Pak, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten steals. Pak is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Gregory, who scored 11 points along with eight steals.
Cesar E. Chavez's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-17. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.3 points per game. As for Bellaire, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-11.
Cesar E. Chavez was dealt a bruising 79-19 defeat at the hands of the Cardinals when the teams last played back in January. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cesar E. Chavez was down 50-12.
