The Greenbrier East Spartans fell victim to the Princeton Tigers''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Tigers at home and fell 55-0. While losing is never fun, Greenbrier East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Princeton is ranked ninth).
Princeton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dominick Collins out in front who picked up 113 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Collins hasn't dropped below 100 receiving yards for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brad Mossor, who gained 150 total yards and two touchdowns.
Greenbrier East's loss was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.2 points per game. As for Princeton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1.
Greenbrier East will be playing at home against Lincoln County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Princeton, they will head out on the road to face off against Parkersburg South at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
