Winchester Community hasn't had much luck against Cambridge City Lincoln recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Golden Falcons will host the Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Winchester Community has three straight victories, Cambridge City Lincoln has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While Winchester Community didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Muncie Central with a sharp 24-6 win on Thursday. Considering the Golden Falcons have won four games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Cassidi Ruble and Lizzie Frazier made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Ruble pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Frazier pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Ruble has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Ruble went 3-for-4 with four runs and two RBI, while Frazier went 2-for-3 with two runs. That's the most runs Ruble has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Winchester Community let Ava Lanter and Laila Salazar run wild. Lanter went 3-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Salazar got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Salazar a new career-high. Delaney Byrd was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Winchester Community was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
New Castle hit Cambridge City Lincoln with a seven-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Golden Eagles lost 11-4 to the Trojans.
Winchester Community's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
