SCISA AAA recap Sept. 26, 2012
Hammond extended the longest winning streak in SCISA AAA this week by beating Cardinal Newman, 48-13. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Skyhawks.
Orangeburg Prep was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in the league. The Indians defeated Heathwood Hall Episcopal 10-0 earlier in the week.
Parker McDuffie was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 11 carries, he ran for 160 yards as Wilson Hall fell to Hammond. Teammate Jay Goodson added to the ground attack by rushing for 63 yards.
Tyler Roberson put up the best numbers through the air as Augusta Christian bested Pinewood Prep. He finished with 12 completions for 219 yards and three touchdowns. Roberson's favorite target this week was Nick Fortenberry, who caught five passes for 120 yards.
August was the best wideout in SCISA AAA this week as Cardinal Newman lost to Erik Kimrey's team. August tallied nine receptions for 122 yards. Austin Ajukwa helped Cardinal Newman's passing attack out by catching two balls for 13 yards.
The Lions' Roberson and Fortenberry have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Roberson has thrown for 1076 yards this season, while Fortenberry, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 28 catches for 649 yards. Aaron Crandall from Orangeburg Prep leads the league in rushing with 452 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Laurence Manning Academy takes on Augusta Christian. The Swampcats are currently in fourth, while Keith Walton's team is in second.
The Skyhawks took down Brandon Tidwell's team 48-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
