Western Pennsylvania [WPAC] recap September 17, 2013
Windber scaled the state rankings by moving to 330 from 425 this week, the biggest jump in Western Pennsylvania [WPAC]. The Ramblers were able to make move up by besting Brentwood 35-20.
Ferndale lost to Berlin Brothersvalley 47-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Windber's dynamic duo of Devon Tomlinson and Matt Barkley proved to be unstoppable against the Spartans, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Tomlinson threw for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns and Barkley had 98 yards receiving.
Matt Grohal's team's dynamic duo of Tomlinson and Barkley proved tough for Brentwood to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Luke Dividock was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 110 yards on 12 carries as Portage bested the Spartans. Caleb Kephart also contributed to the rushing game with 95 yards on the ground.
Barkley was the best receiver in the league this week as Windber beat Brentwood.
Tomlinson put up the best numbers in passing as the Ramblers beat the Spartans.
Leading Western Pennsylvania [WPAC] in both passing and receiving yards, Windber's Tomlinson and Barkley have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback Tomlinson has thrown for 511 yards this season, while Barkley has 19 catches for 253 yards. The Mountaineers' Braden Fochtman leads the league in rushing yards with 578.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Meyersdale takes on the Mustangs. The Red Raiders are currently in first, while Portage is in fourth.
The Ramblers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,520 from 9,621. The improvement was the result of 35-20 victory over Brentwood last week.
