Softball Recap: Bangor Wins Going Away Against Fennville

Bangor won the last time they faced Fennville and things went their way on Saturday too. The Vikings blew past the Blackhawks 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Isabelle Horvath was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily Wisniewski, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alexis Wisniewski, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Bangor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fennville only posted a batting average of .111.

Bangor's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Fennville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bangor will venture away from home to challenge Lawrence at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.67 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Fennville, they are taking a road trip to face off against South Haven at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Blackhawks will need to watch out since the Rams have now posted at least ten runs in their last six contests.
