Colts Neck is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Shore Regional with a sharp 24-1 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won five matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Nick Hayden looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ronan Kiely was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, eight RBI, and two stolen bases. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in runs (three). Another player making a difference was Joseph Pignatelli, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Colts Neck always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Red Bank Catholic waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Spartans. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Caseys have posted against the Spartans since April 28, 2017.
Colts Neck is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Red Bank Catholic, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4.
Colts Neck skirted past Red Bank Catholic 13-11 in their previous meeting back in May of 2017. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
