Baseball Recap: Chicago Academy Takes a Loss

Chicago Academy is still winless after their game against Westinghouse on Monday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Warriors. On the bright side, the ten- run effort marked the Cougars' highest-scoring match to date.

Josh Casillas was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Casillas was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those RBI were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Alessandro Vera was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. That run marked the first that he scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Glover, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Chicago Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Westinghouse, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Chicago Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-2 defeat against Farragut on the 16th. As for Westinghouse, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-4 win against Steinmetz College Prep on the 16th.
