The Colony Cougars won the last time they faced the Azle Hornets, and things went their way on Friday too. The Colony blew past Azle 41-19.
Kendrick Mcclodden was a one-man wrecking crew for The Colony as he rushed for 161 yards and three touchdowns. Carson Cox also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Azle's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Christian Mendoza, who picked up 85 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Derrek Vowell, who threw for 203 yards and two touchdowns.
The Colony's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 4-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.0 points per game. As for Azle, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
The Colony will look to defend their home field on Friday against Saginaw at 7:00 p.m. Saginaw is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Azle, they will head out on the road to face off against South Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Hills comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
