The Osceola Kowboys will square off against the Fort Meade Miners at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Osceola is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Osceola came up short against Cornerstone Charter Academy and fell 9-4. The Kowboys have struggled against the Ducks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.
Keyanna Stanley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-2. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Tenley Dawson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Fort Meade came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They beat the Braves by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The Miners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Gracie Taylor looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Marleigh Carroll and Makayla Deleon did most of the damage at the plate: Carroll went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Deleon scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Deleon is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Ariel Ramirez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Fort Meade's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Osceola, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Osceola hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .373. However, it's not like Fort Meade struggles in that department as they've averaged .420. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Osceola was able to grind out a solid victory over Fort Meade in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, winning 5-0. Will Osceola repeat their success, or does Fort Meade have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
