Sadly, the Southern Wake Academy Lions are still looking for their first win of the season after 19 matchups. They had to suffer through a rough 77-6 loss at the hands of Chatham Charter. Southern Wake Academy has struggled against Chatham Charter recently, as their contest on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Southern Wake Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-7) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Chatham Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Meah Brooks led the charge by scoring 19 points along with five assists and five steals. Brooks is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 18 or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hannah Headen, who scored 20 points along with three steals.
Southern Wake Academy dropped their record down to 0-19 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Chatham Charter, the win (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 20-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Wake Academy will take on Woods Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Chatham Charter, they will head out on the road to square off against River Mill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chatham Charter has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 600 points over their last nine games.
