The Tarboro Vikings kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They had to suffer through a rough 79-30 loss at the hands of Northside - Pinetown. Tarboro has not had much luck with Northside - Pinetown recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Northside - Pinetown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but OJ Cahoon led the charge by scoring 18 points along with 9 assists and 5 steals. The game was Cahoon's third in a row with at least ten points. Mariah Jones was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Tarboro's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Northside - Pinetown, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tarboro will take on Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northside - Pinetown, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Bear Grass Charter at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. Bear Grass Charter will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Northside - Pinetown is ranked 27th).
