Baseball Recap: Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Drops Highest Score of Season Against Durham School of the Arts

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southern School of Energy and Sustainability). Everything went their way against the Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs on Thursday as Southern School of Energy and Sustainability made off with an 11-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Ryan Dawes made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI.

In other batting news, Southern School of Energy and Sustainability got a massive performance out of Carlos Joseph, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Joseph a new career-high in triples (two). Another player making a difference was Zione Oliver, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-8. As for Durham School of the Arts, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
