Baseball Recap: Oak Forest Snags Ninth Victory in Last 11 Games

There's no place like home for Oak Forest, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Thornton Fractional South Red Wolves an 11-0 shutout on Monday. Considering the Bengals have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Andrew Dawson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Vince Weber was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Oak Forest is undefeated when Weber posts two or more runs, but 7-8-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Bryce Hoffman, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Oak Forest hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Oak Forest has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Thornton Fractional South, they dropped their record down to 4-15-1 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Oak Forest will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Wolves: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
