Sumrall's loss was Walsh Jesuit's gain in the MaxPreps Xcellent Baseball National Rankings this week.
The Bobcats saw their run of 67 straight wins come to an end with a 5-1 loss to Oak Grove in the second game of the Lamar County Tournament in Sumrall. The Bobcats managed only one hit, a home run by Connor Barron in the seventh inning, in the loss. Walsh Jesuit's Greg Greve.

Walsh Jesuit, moves into the No. 1 spot thanks to some a spotless 11-0 start to the season, including an 8-7 victory last week over previously undefeated Zanesville. The Warriors also won the Cuyahoga falls City Classic Tournament with a 13-3 win over Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy and a 15-2 win over Woodridge. Freshman Cassidy Brown had a home run for the Warriors while Ryan Berry knocked out his fourth home run on the season.
Three teams move into this week's rankings, including Parkview, Florida Christian and La Cueva. Parkview has wins over Florida Christian and Pace, a team already in the Xcellent 25 rankings, while Florida Christian racked up wins over previously ranked Columbus and Archbishop McCarthy. La Cueva, meanwhile, handed Eldorado its first loss of the season and looks like the top seed heading into the New Mexico state playoffs.

1. (2) Walsh Jesuit (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio), 11-0
The Warriors had a big week, winning five games, including an 8-7 victory over Zanesville (Ohio). Other wins included routs of Benedictine (Cleveland, Ohio), 6-1, Gilmour Academy (Gates Mills, Ohio), 10-1, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy (Ohio), 13-3, and Woodridge (Peninsula, Ohio), 15-2. Marco Caponi and Patrick Ammar both hit home runs against Cuyahoga Valley Christian while Tim Faix pitched the win to raise his record to 4-0.
2. (3) Menchville (Newport News, Va.), 10-0
The had little trouble in AAA Peninsula League action, defeating Heritage (Newport News, Va.) 17-1 and Hampton (Va.) 7-2. Josh Moore had a home run and three RBI against Heritage while Jeff Gray and Austin Chrismon each homered in the Hampton victory.
3. (5) Heritage (Colleyville, Texas), 25-1-1
The Panthers remained undefeated in District 5-5A competition at 10-0 with a 10-2 win over Northwest (Justin, Texas) and a 3-2 victory over Trinity (Euless, Texas). Rylan Patel had two doubles and Patrick Thompson homered against Northwest. Patel also had two doubles against Trinity while Cal Bailey hit one out.
4. (6) Sarasota (Fla.), 21-0
The Sailors won three times, including a big 7-1 win over Xcellent 25 No. 15 Jesuit, last week. Sarasota also topped Charlotte (Punta Gorda, Fla.) 3-2 and Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.) 11-1. Brandon Haarer had a single, double and triple for the Sailors against Manatee.
5. (8) McAllen (Texas), 26-2
The Bulldogs' Alexis Garza no-hit La Joya (Texas) for 5 1/3 innings in a 3-0 win, striking out 11 and finishing with a two-hitter to keep McAllen undefeated in District 30-5A play at 11-0. The Bulldogs also defeated Donna (Texas) 12-0 earlier in the week.
6. (9) Rockwall-Heath (Rockwall, Texas), 29-0
The Hawks are just four games away from completing an undefeated regular season after topping Smith (Carrollton, Texas) 9-2 and Royse City (Texas) 7-0 last week. Drew Benefield hit one out against Smith while Trevor Holland did the same against Royse City.
7. (10) Canyon del Oro (Tucson, Ariz.), 22-1
Sabino (Tucson, Ariz.) kept it relatively close, considering the Dorados' five previous wins, with a 6-2 loss. Canyon del Oro had outscored its five previous opponents 96-5. It was back to business as usual against Pueblo (Tucson, Ariz.) with an 11-0 win. Hayden Cota-Robles homered against Sabino while Ryan Cota and Eric Gutierrez both hit one out against Pueblo.
8. (11) Wando (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.), 19-1
The Warriors won three times last week, defeating Bishop England (Charleston, S.C.) 6-5, Fort Dorchester (North Charleston, S.C.) 7-6 and Berkeley (Moncks Corner, S.C.) 11-0. Nick Ciuffo hit a one-out single in the bottom of the seventh to drive in the winning run against Bishop England. Drew Cisco picked up the win, his sixth of the season (6-0). Against Fort Dorchester, Brad Cherry had a two-out bases-loaded single in the eighth inning to drive in the winning runs.
9. (4) Serra (San Mateo, Calif.), 18-1
The Padres were surprised by Riordan (San Francisco) 5-4 in West Catholic Athletic League play, but rebounded to knock off St. Francis (Mountain View, Calif.) 8-6 in a key league matchup. Andre Mercurio homered in the loss to the Crusaders while Kyle Ferris did the same in the win over the Lancers.
10. (7) Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.), 19-1
The Monarchs set up this week's big game with Serra with a pair of West Catholic Athletic League victories over Valley Christian (San Jose, Calif.), 5-1, and Sacred Heart Cathedral (San Francisco), 12-2. Tyler Davis threw a three-hitter against Valley Christian while Kyle Alwyn had a pair of doubles in the win over the Fighting Irish. The Monarchs take on Serra on Friday.
11. (1) Sumrall (Miss.), 25-1
The Bobcats lost their first game in close to two years, falling 5-1 to Oak Grove (Hattiesburg, Miss.) at the Lamar County Tournament. The loss ended Sumrall's win streak at 67 games in a row. The Bobcats also defeated Purvis (Miss.) 21-3 earlier in the day with Jackson Posey hitting two home runs. Earlier in the week, Sumrall topped West Marion (Foxworth, Miss.) 10-0 and 13-3.
12 (12) Bolles (Jacksonville, Fla.), 20-2
The Bulldogs posted two shutouts last week, topping Fernandina Beach (Fla.) 9-0 and Episcopal (Jacksonville, Fla.) 12-0. Mark Lumpa went six innings and struck out nine against Fernandina Beach while allowing just two hits. Hayden Hurst gave up just one hit in the win over Episcopal and D.J. Stewart and Austin Slater each homered for Bolles.
13. (16) Klein (Texas), 22-3
The Bearcats won twice last week in impressive fashion, shutting out Klein Forest (Houston) 10-0 and blasting Dekaney (Houston) 19-1. Ryan Van Marter had a home run in the win over Klein Forest with Corey Ray picking up the victory.
14. (NR) Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.), 17-3
Despite an 8-7 loss to Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) last week, Panthers enter the Xcellent 25 rankings this week thanks to continued success of two Florida teams, Pace and Florida Christian, both of whom Parkview defeated earlier this year. Parkview is also now ranked No. 1 in the Georgia 5A state coaches rankings.
15. (17) Pace (Fla.), 23-2
The Patriots won three times last week, edging Navarre (Fla.) 8-7 and whipping Gulf Breeze (Fla.) 7-1 before knocking off Escambia (Pensacola, Fla.) 12-6. The Patriots have a big matchup this week against Pensacola Catholic. Phillip Pfeifer, Farragut

16. (19) Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.), 22-2
The Huskies won three games last week, giving up just two runs and posting a pair of shutouts. Hamilton topped Mesa (Ariz.) 6-0 with Forrest Vanlandingham getting the shutout. Ryan Casillas had two doubles among this three hits in a 12-2 win over Casa Grande (Ariz.) and Zak Johnson allowed only three hits in a 12-0 shutout of Mesa.
17. (20) Madison Central (Madison, Miss.), 23-1
The Jaguars head into the final week of the regular season with a 22-game winning streak after winning four times last week. Madison Central topped Grenada (Miss.) 9-0, Northwest Rankin (Brandon, Miss.) 4-2, Pearl (Miss.) 7-1 and Warren Central (Vicksburg, Miss.) 6-1. Ryan Bolden had two home runs against Grenada and Brayden Jones added one. Josh Laxer struck out 11 to get the win over Northwest Rankin and then combined with Will Bryan to throw a one-hitter against Pearl. Jones struck out nine to get the win over Warren Central.
18. (21) Sts. Neumann & Goretti [John & Maria] (Philadelphia), 9-0
The Saints stayed undefeated with league wins over Conwell-Egan Catholic (Fairless Hills, Pa.), 6-3, and Bishop McDevitt (Philadelphia), 10-0. Mark Donato struck out six and Albert Bauer had three RBI against Conwell-Egan while Joe Gorman went the distance in the shutout win over Bishop McDevitt, giving up one hit while striking out 12 and walking none.
19. (22) Germantown Academy (Fort Washington, Pa.), 16-1
The Patriots posted a surprisingly easy 12-2 win against Penn Charter (Philadelphia) with Greg Guers going 3 for 3 with a grand slam, a three-run homer and a two-run double for nine RBI. In a 6-0 win over Haverford School (Pa.), Keenan Kish went the distance and gave up three hits for the win. Dan Hoy had a home run in a 4-2 win over Lawrenceville School (N.J.).
20. (NR) Florida Christian (Miami, Fla.), 22-2
The Patriots have been on a roll with three huge wins over the past two weeks. Florida Christian downed Columbus (Miami, Fla.) 3-0 on April 8 and then avenged one of its two losses with a 10-3 defeat of Gulliver Prep (Miami, Fla.). The Patriots then edged Archbishop McCarthy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) 2-1 on Thursday. Florida Christian's only other loss is to Parkview, which entered the Xcellent 25 rankings this week.
21. (15) Jesuit (Tampa, Fla.), 22-2
The Tigers saw their 20-game winning streak come to an end in a 7-1 loss to No. 5 Sarasota, but rebounded to edge Tampa Catholic (Fla.) 6-1. George Horrnik had four RBI in the victory and Daniel Gibson went the distance to get the win, striking out six in the process.
22. (13) Farragut (Knoxville, Tenn.), 23-3
The Admirals fell to Noblesville (Ind.) 10-1 in a non-district game, but bounced back to shutout Lenoir City (Tenn.) 10-0 and avenge an earlier defeat with an 8-0 win over Maryville (Tenn.). The Admirals also won the Kessler's Classic with an 18-5 win over McMinn County (Athens, Tenn.), a 15-1 win over Crockett (Jonesborough, Tenn.) and a 12-2 win over Rossville Christian Academy (Tenn.).
23. (14) Pelham (Ala.), 35-3
The Panthers head into the Alabama 6A state playoffs this week with a record after splitting a doubleheader with Hillcrest (Evergreen, Ala.) on Friday, losing the first game 7-1 and winning the second 5-4. Pelham also played a single game against Etowah (Attalla, Ala.), winning 13-3.
24. (18), Lake Wales (Fla.), 20-3
The Highlanders picked up a pair of wins last week, but lost their finale against Osceola (Kissimmee, Fla.), 6-5, and finish District 5-5A play with an 8-3 record. Lake Wales topped Haines City (Fla.) 12-5 and Osceola 9-2 in its other games last week.
25. (NR) La Cueva (Albuquerque, N.M.), 18-2
Since losing early in the season to Rio Rancho (N.M.) and Eldorado (Albuquerque, N.M.), the Bears have been punishing teams, scoring over 10 runs in 13 of their last 17 wins. La Cueva also avenged its earlier loss to Eldorado with a 9-6 victory on Friday, handing the Eagles (18-1) their first loss of the season.
