Baseball Recap: C.B. Aycock Sets Scoring Season-High Against East Duplin

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask C.B. Aycock). Everything went their way against the East Duplin Panthers on Tuesday as they made off with a 14-4 victory. The Golden Falcons not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th (when they won 10-0).

Ashton Fricks made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Caden Cox was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Dalton Gray was another key player, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

C.B. Aycock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

The win snapped C.B. Aycock's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-12 record. As for East Duplin, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 12-7 record.

Looking ahead, C.B. Aycock will venture away from home to take on Smithfield-Selma at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Duplin, they will host Southwest Onslow at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
