Lincoln is 10-0 against the Knights since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lincoln Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Preston Knights at 5:45 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in West Virginia (Lincoln is ranked 56th, while the Knights are ranked 57th).
Last Wednesday, Lincoln was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 44-38 to the Eagles.
Meanwhile, Preston's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They took a hard 57-43 fall against Liberty.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Easton Hayes, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Slaton Manko, who scored 16 points.
Lincoln has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Preston, their loss was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-10.
Everything came up roses for Lincoln against the Knights in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 73-45 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lincoln since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
