Rowe and Harlingen South are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2014, but not for long. The Rowe Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Harlingen South Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Rowe comes in on four and Harlingen South on eight.
Last Tuesday, Rowe beat Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North 50-41. 50 seems to be a good number for Rowe as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Meanwhile, Harlingen South didn't have too much trouble with Weslaco East on the road on Tuesday as they won 48-32. Given Harlingen South's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 509th, while Weslaco East is ranked 1071st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Harlingen South found their leader in underclassman Jiselle Montemayor, who scored 12 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Montemayor has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Serena Cano, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Rowe pushed their record up to 24-10 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Harlingen South, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 26-9 record this season.
Rowe beat Harlingen South 54-43 when the teams last played back in November of 2021. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Harlingen South's Alexes Rocha, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Rowe to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
