Millers Creek Christian is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Victory Christian Academy is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Millers Creek Christian Lions will take on the Victory Christian Academy Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Millers Creek Christian strolled past Southview Christian with points to spare, taking the game 48-33.
It was another big night for Cam Layaou, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Millers Creek Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Corban Huffman, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Southview Christian scored an imposing 76 points back in December of 2023, Victory Christian Academy still came out on top. Victory Christian Academy took their game against Southview Christian 84-76. Given Victory Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Southview Christian is ranked 520th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Victory Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Gabriel Thompson, who scored 31 points. Thompson is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Lloyd Hampton was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Millers Creek Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Victory Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Millers Creek Christian hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 50.3 points per game. It's a different story for Victory Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 71.1 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Millers Creek Christian couldn't quite finish off Victory Christian Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2023 and fell 74-72.
