District 10 Region 5 AAA recap Oct. 3, 2012
Warren extended the longest winning streak in District 10 Region 5 AAA this week by beating Oil City, 60-36. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Dragons.
DuBois took down Bradford 84-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Gabe French threw for 191 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
Austin Jerman put up the best numbers through the air as Warren topped the Oilers. He finished with a total of 10 completions for 195 yards and four touchdowns. Jerman's favorite target this week was Jordan Willetts, who caught four passes for 105 yards.
Forrest Wested was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 181 yards on 11 carries as Franklin bested the Owls. Chris Matthews also contributed to the rushing game with 13 yards on the ground.
Baummer was the best wideout in the league this week as DuBois defeated Bradford. Baummer racked up five receptions for 141 yards. Bryson Paulinellie helped DuBois' passing attack out by catching two balls for 26 yards.
The Knights' Kyle Ritchey and Wested have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading District 10 Region 5 AAA in both passing and receiving yards. Ritchey has thrown for 883 yards this season, while Wested, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 20 catches for 348 yards. Frank Varischetti's team's Garrett Brown leads the league in rushing yards with 846.
Franklin made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,380 from 11,033. The improvement was the result of 30-22 victory over Dave Smith's team last week.
