The New Mexico Military Institute Colts will face off against the Robertson Cardinals at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as New Mexico Military Institute comes in on 12 and Robertson on five.
New Mexico Military Institute is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over West Las Vegas. The Colts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by six runs or more this season.

Javier Yepiz Galindo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tegin Maloney, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Konstatino Scopelitis was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
New Mexico Military Institute kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Robertson had just enough and edged out East Mountain 3-1 on Friday.
Like New Mexico Military Institute, Robertson also got a great game from a two-way player: Diego Maez. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Maez has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Brian Lucero was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
New Mexico Military Institute's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Robertson, their victory bumped their record up to 17-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. New Mexico Military Institute has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Robertson struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
New Mexico Military Institute might still be hurting after the 10-1 loss they got from Robertson when the teams last played back in March of 2019. Can the Colts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
