After flying high against the University Wildcats on Wednesday, the Grant Lancers came back down to earth. Grant had to suffer through a rough 68-33 loss at the hands of Layton Christian Academy. It was the first time this season that Grant let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Grant still got an impressive performance from RONALD MERRILL, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that MERRILL scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of ALEX TIMOFEEV, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Layton Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alan Gballou, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Otavio Armani, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Grant's loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-5. As for Layton Christian Academy, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.
Grant and Liberty will face off at 7:35 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Liberty's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
