The North Callaway Thunderbirds's and the Wright City Wildcats's contest on Tuesday was close at halftime, but the North Callaway Thunderbirds turned on the heat in the second half with 40 points. North Callaway put the hurt on Wright City with a sharp 63-37 win. The victory was just what North Callaway needed coming off of a 76-48 loss in their prior game.
It was another big night for Sam Pezold, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Isiah Craighead, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
North Callaway's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-16. As for Wright City, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-9.
North Callaway will face off against Sacred Heart at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Sacred Heart presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than North Callaway in Missouri (Sacred Heart is ranked 131st, while North Callaway is ranked 473rd). As for Wright City, they will be playing at home against Van-Far at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
