Pearl was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Saturday as the team picked up their 17th straight  loss  dating back to last season. They were a single  set away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Florence Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  3-1  on August 7th.
 In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Pearl sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 22-25,  15-12.
 Calli Thomas paced Pearl's offense, picking up six kills. Thomas got some help from  Izzy Watts and her eight assists.  Taylar Walker controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.
Pearl's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Florence, they now  have a winning record of 2-1.
 Pearl has already played their next match,  a  2-0  loss against West Lauderdale on the 23rd. Hopefully Florence paid attention to the Pirates'  contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Pirates  at 3:30  p.m.  on Saturday.
