Having just played yesterday, the Tonopah Muckers will get right back to it and host the Lone Pine Golden Eagles at 1:30 p.m. on January 20th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Tonopah scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took down Indian Springs 47-33.
Meanwhile, Lone Pine had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 68-20 victory over Big Pine at home. Lone Pine has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Alfonso Castro, who scored eight points along with eight assists and five steals. Castro is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Noah Quezada, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Tonopah's win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Lone Pine, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home.
Tonopah was dealt a bruising 52-22 loss at the hands of Lone Pine in their previous meeting on Saturday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Castro, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten steals. Now that Tonopah knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
