Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, a fact the Okawville Rockets proved on Monday. They walked away with a 49-41 victory over Greenville. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Okawville.
Alayna Kraus continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds. The contest was her 16th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Madisyn Wienstroer, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Emma Veith and Katie Campbell certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Veith scored 12 points along with six steals, while Campbell scored 18 points. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her.
Okawville's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Greenville, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6.
Okawville will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Red Bud at 7:00 p.m. Red Bud will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 289th, while Okawville is ranked 92nd). Greenville is on the road again on Thursday and play against Southwestern at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Southwestern comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
