In what's become a running theme this season, the Covenant Christian Cougars gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past Lake Country Christian 72-48. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-16.
Matthew Boughton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with five assists and two steals. Another player making a difference was Aaron Turner, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Despite the loss, Lake Country Christian still got an impressive performance from Bryce Fagley, who scored ten points along with three steals and two blocks. Sam Foley was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Even though they lost, Lake Country Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. This was only their 15th loss (out of 20 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Covenant Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Lake Country Christian, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-24.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Covenant Christian will take on the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 811th, while the Cougars are ranked 160th). As for Lake Country Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pantego Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season.
