6A Region 1 recap November 5, 2013
Theodore moved up to 97 from 126 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 6A Region 1. The Bobcats climbed the ranks as a result of topping Foley 27-26.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Blount beat Williamson 34-6. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Leopards.
Sandy Valle'e was a key player and the best on defense this week as McGill-Toolen defeated Sumter Central. The 6-foot-0 defensive back grabbed 1 interception.
Kameron Maye was a beast in the backfield as Murphy lost to Vigor.
Maye provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Panthers lost to the Wolves. He completed 8 passes for 126 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 212 yards. Maye's favorite target this week was Michael Hudson, who caught 4 passes for 64 yards.
Harry Satterwhite put up the best numbers in passing as the Yellowjackets beat the Jaguars. He finished with 5 completions for 91 yards and 2 touchdowns. Satterwhite's favorite target this week was Anthony Walker, who caught 4 passes for 78 yards.
On the heels of Satterwhite and Ito Smith, McGill-Toolen has had great success on offense. Satterwhite is tops in the league in passing with 1,887 yards, while Smith has rushed for 1,017 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Murphy's Maye, with 790 yards on 50 catches.
Ronn Lee's team's DePriest Turner needs only 58 yards against Auburn next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 121 carries Turner has put up 942 yards this year.
Going into this week's contest against Opelika, Bart Sessions' team's Satterwhite needs 113 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
The Yellowjackets took down Sumter Central 65-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Satterwhite ran for 23 yards during the win.
