The Surry County Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Denbigh Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Surry County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Surry County barely beat Brunswick the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 12-5 victory on Thursday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Hailey Livesay was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Livesay was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lillian Eberhart was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two triples. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times she's played. Timberly Scott also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Surry County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brunswick only posted an OBP of .310.
Meanwhile, Denbigh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Bethel, falling 14-2. Patriots fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Bruins since Thursday.
Juleisy Rivera-Rodriguez made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Alieyah Bullock was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Denbigh's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Surry County, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Denbigh's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Surry County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .450.
