The California Grizzlies will take on the Foothill Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
California is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Bishop O'Dowd with a sharp 10-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Grizzlies, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Gabriella Nudo looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, California let Jayda Crosby and Hailey King run wild. Crosby went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while King went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave King a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Golde, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
California kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop O'Dowd only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, while Foothill put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Castro Valley. The Falcons skirted past the Trojans 2-0. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
The result came thanks to Myra Galzie's shutout, as she gave up just four hits.
At the plate, Ellie Novitske was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Brea Olsen, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
California is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Foothill, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8-1.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. California hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .397. However, it's not like Foothill struggles in that department as they've averaged .373. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
California came out on top in a nail-biter against Foothill in their previous meeting last Tuesday, sneaking past 11-10. Will the Grizzlies repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
