Blue Valley is 0-4 against Shawnee Mission Northwest since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Blue Valley Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Shawnee Mission Northwest Cougars.
While it was all tied up 33-33 at halftime, Blue Valley was not quite St. James Academy's equal in the second half on Friday. Blue Valley took a 76-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. James Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Shawnee Mission Northwest entered their tilt with Shawnee Mission East with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Shawnee Mission Northwest snuck past Shawnee Mission East with a 53-48 victory on Friday. Given Shawnee Mission Northwest's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Shawnee Mission East is ranked 242nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Blue Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-2-1. As for Shawnee Mission Northwest, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Blue Valley and Shawnee Mission Northwest were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but Blue Valley came up empty-handed after a 36-35 loss. Can Blue Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
