Aurora Central is 0-3 against Mullen since December of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Trojans will face off against the Mustangs at 8:30 p.m.
Aurora Central made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Denver North, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Trojans fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 55-52 on Tuesday. The Trojans were up 30-16 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Alejandro (Alex) Flores, who posted 15 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The contest was his fifth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ual Yonas, who put up seven points.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mullen). They came out on top against Columbine by a score of 75-65 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Aurora Central better keep an eye on Mason Bonner. He was instrumental in Mullen's win, dropping a double-double with 26 points and 14 boards. Bonner is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Brycen Thacker was another key player, putting up 20 points and five steals.
Mullen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.
Mullen now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Aurora Central, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's game: Aurora Central has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 36.8% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Mullen, though, as they've only made 28.7% of their threes this season. Given Aurora Central's sizable advantage in that area, the Mustangs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Aurora Central was taken down by Mullen 71-41 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
