Riverton has gone a perfect 10-0 against Pleasant Grove recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Silverwolves will take on the Vikings at 3:30 p.m. Riverton will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Riverton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Bingham, who was ranked 24th at the time (Riverton was ranked first). The Silverwolves walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Miners on Tuesday.
Kaelyn Flynn looked comfortable as she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Grace Leary and Brooke Tacke did most of the damage at the plate: Leary went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Tacke went 1-for-3 with one home run. Maggie Hamblin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pleasant Grove, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They were the clear victors by a 21-11 margin over Skyridge on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Grace Norman was a standout: she got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maile Larsen, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-5.
Pleasant Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Pleasant Grove's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average this season. As for Riverton, their record now sits at 12-0.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Riverton hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 2.1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Pleasant Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.3 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Riverton took their win against Pleasant Grove in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-5 score. Will the Silverwolves repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
