Softball Recap: Weeki Wachee Has No Trouble Against Central

Weeki Wachee barely beat Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Weeki Wachee Hornets put the hurt on the Central Bears with a sharp 16-4 victory on Tuesday. With that win, the Hornets brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Alvalyn Crisp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Crisp was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-5.

In other batting news, Lilly Connell was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Austyn Childs, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Weeki Wachee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .553. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Weeki Wachee and bumps their season record up to 3-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Central, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weeki Wachee will face off against Gulf at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Weeki Wachee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Central, they will square off against Crystal River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Crystal River will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Central surely won't give up without a fight.
